American Asian interviews Steve Tao, president of the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (CAPE).
Steve will discuss current Asian actors appearing in starring roles on TV those this fall including Daniel Kim and Grace Park from “Hawaii 5-0″ and Maggie Quigley from the WB’s “Nikkita.”
Are Asians equally represented on TV? How do we break the proverbial glass ceiling for Asian actors? Steve will provide us insight on the controversy.

SteveTao, President of CAPE
About CAPE:
The Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (CAPE) was founded by television producer and executive Wenda Fong, publicist Fritz Friedman, and film producer and executive Chris Lee in 1991. They each saw a need for Asian Pacific Americans in the industry to have a place where they could regularly connect and support each other both personally and professionally.

As DFW parents and students get ready for the school year, Asian culturalism kicks into high gear. The “Tiger Mom and Dad” is lurking. But is this really the best mentality to take with our children? What other Asianisms are effective or not.
Retired college professor and administrator and an international speaker, Dr. So will provide us some insight in myths, legends and other exaggerated tall tales.
She has been speaking on diversity and inclusiveness, leadership and change, and Asian and Latino cultures since 1995.
With decades of international experience working with people from culturally diverse backgrounds while living in Hong Kong, Japan and Ecuador, she is an expert on unraveling the Three Cs to debunk certain cultural communication codes that one uses or presenting the Asian/Latino Parallels about the similarities of the two fastest growing racial/ethnic minority groups in the US.
While living in Dallas Texas, Dr. So had successfully managed a $30-million scholarship program for the Dallas County Community College District. A compassionate volunteer, she had served as chairman of the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce and president of North Texas Chapter of the Texas Diversity Council. Some of her accolades include the 2006 National Institutional Excellence Award of the National Organization of Chinese Americans, the 2007 Distinguished Alumna Award of the Tarrant County College, the 2011 Diversity Lifetime Achievement Award of the Dallas Human Resources Management Association, and the 2011 Diversity Leadership Award of the Texas Diversity Council.
