Early December Events

December 3rd, 2009 by Justin

There are several very interesting events with Asian flavor coming up in the next few days.  Here’s a trio of them.

APEX Holiday Party
The Asian Professional Exchange of Dallas (APEX), an Asian professional networking organization, is hosting its annual holiday charity party at the Tower Club of Dallas on Friday, December 4th.  I used to go this event every year and it’s a fun time while raising donations for charities such as Toys for Tots and the Scottish Rites Hospital.  Proceeds this year will benefit the Buckner Children and Family Services.  Get ticket and event information at this site.

AdventureAsia: Family Day at the Crow

The Crow Collection of Asian Art is hosting family day on Saturday, December 5th with a series of interesting workshops and performances on various Asian cultures.  Learn how to decorate a Tibetan Friendship Scarf or enjoy tea and treats in one of the main galleries.  Visit the Crow’s website for more information.

Lisa Ling at the AT&T Performing Arts Center

On Monday, December 7th, National Geographic reporter and former view co-host Lisa Ling is coming to Dallas as part of the Brinker International Forum, a speaker series from the AT&T Performing Arts Center and jointly hosted by National Geographic Live!.  If you remember, Lisa Ling’s sister, Laura Ling and her colleague Euna Lee were arrested and detained by the North Koreans earlier this year before being released thanks in part to former President Bill Clinton and VP Al Gore.  From the event description, it seems Ling will probably speak about her travels around the world and the many cultures she’s encountered.  She’ll be at the beautiful new Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center. Get more info here.
