The virtuosity of Shrinivas on electric mandolin gives this unlikely instrument respectability and credence in high classical music. Shrinivas combines the highly complex Carnatic music of southern India with his own style of modified Western mandolin techniques, producing a dazzling sound that straddles jazz and sophisticated Indian classical music.
U. Rajesh, brother of Mandolin Maestro U. Shrinivas, was tutored under the guidance of his father and brother, He started playing South Indian Classical Music early in his life. He has performed along with greats like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Vikku Vinayakaram and also with his brother Mandolin Maestro U.Shrinivas.
