Saturday Morning Cartoons: Pokemon

Nothing is better on a Saturday morning than watching action packed cartoons! Based on the internationally known Nintendo video game, Pokemon is set in a fantasy world of imaginary creatures. This movie tells the story of Master Ash and his quest to be the greatest Pokemon trainer ever.
Hero Headquarters: Design Your Own Comic Hero
10 AM – 2 PM | Jade Room
If you were a super hero, what would your power be? Be inspired by the heroes in the Museum’s collection and create the superhero you have always imagined.
Art Activity: Origami
10 AM – 2 PM | Jade Room
Create your own adorable origami characters using the Japanese art of paper folding.
Iced Tea and Sweet Treats
10 AM – 2 PM | Gallery III
Stay cool and enjoy complimentary iced mango tea and assorted Asian candies. Supplies limited.
Face Painting
11 AM – 1 PM | Gallery III
Let the artists from Your Enchanted Face transform you into your favorite Asian-inspired cartoon character, including Hello Kitty, Kai-lan, and Pikachu. Face painting available on a first-come first-served basis.
Reading Nook and Storytime
11 – 11:30 AM and 1:30 – 2 PM | LinkAsia Gallery in Gallery III
Join Museum staff for readings of “Kai-Lan’s Great Trip to China” and other children’s stories from across Asia.
Saturday Morning Cartoons: Howl’s Moving Castle
Noon – 2 PM | Mezzanine
In this stunning Japanese animated film, Hayao Miyazaki presents the story of a young girl named Sophie. Cursed by a witch, Sophie flees to the woods and happens upon Wizard Hauru's enchanted moving castle. Through a series of adventures, Sophie is introduced to magical worlds and fantastical characters in her attempts to break the witch’s spell.
Comic Artist Demonstration

Meet comic artist Josh Rose and watch as he reveals the secrets to making your own cartoons!
Superhero Costume Contest
1 – 1:30 PM | Gallery III
Superheroes have always worn distinct designs and fabulous fashions. But why should they have all the fun? Gather your team, pick up a supply packet, and create your own superhero costume in only 30 minutes. Then, let the crowd decide who is the ultimate super hero! Supplies limited; contest is limited to first 10 teams.
