The Literary Death Match marries the literary and performative aspects of Def Poetry Jam, rapier-witted quips of American Idol (without any meanness) and the ridiculousness of Double Dare. This competitive, humor-centric event features four authors who read their most electric writing. After each reading the judges take turns spouting hilarious, off-the-wall commentary. Two finalists compete in the finale which trades in literary sensibility for an absurdly comical climax to determine who takes home the crown. This Texas-style smack down will feature authors representing Austin (Amelia Gray), Dallas (Will Clarke), San Antonio (William Razavi), and Houston (Katherine Center).
