FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Showcasing spectacular cultural, performing, visual and culinary arts, the seventh-annual CityArts Festival will move to historic Fair Park Friday, May 7 – Sunday, May 9. Free and open to the public, the community-based event will boast a diverse array of festivities for families and art aficionados to enjoy against the backdrop of Fair Park, a national landmark featuring the world’s largest collection of art deco exhibit buildings, art and sculpture.

CityArts Festival will feature its biggest-ever line-up of musical entertainment, dance and other performing arts; a children’s area packed with arts and crafts, interactive activities and special entertainment; free admission to the Fair Park museums (hours vary); multi?disciplinary demos and workshops of visual and performing arts; and a culinary area with cooking demos and samplings by local chefs, wine tastings and more. Throughout the weekend, guests will be able to enjoy “dancing water” shows choreographed to music at the Esplanade Fountains, which underwent a $12-million renovation in 2009.

The always-popular juried art show, coordinated by The 500 Inc., will expand to showcase fine art and original pieces by more than 200 renowned Texas and national artists. Bigger and better, the expanded art area gives The 500, Inc. an increased opportunity to raise money for cultural arts organizations in the Dallas area.

Admission is free. Parking is $10, or ride DART’s Green Line to the Fair Park Station. CityArts Festival runs from 6 – 10 p.m. on Friday (May 7), 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Saturday (May 8), and noon – 6 p.m. on Sunday (May 9). Indoor and outdoor activities will take place at the Automobile and Centennial Buildings, Court of Honor, Esplanade and the Lagoon.

Founded by the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau in 2004, CityArts Festival is now presented by the Friends of Fair Park in collaboration with a variety of Dallas cultural, civic and arts organizations.
