CROW COLLECTION OF ASIAN ART FUSES MIND, BODY, HEART AND ART WITH WELLNESS PROGRAM FEATURING A VARIE
March 2, 2011
Expanded program offers twice-weekly yoga sessions including yoga for tots on Tuesdays, plus tai chi, meditation and more
Designed to leverage mind, body, heart and art, the Crow Collection of Asian Art is expanding its newest initiative – a Wellness program that embraces the holistic philosophies of Eastern culture. The program will feature weekly yoga classes including yoga for kids, plus free weekend tai chi and meditation sessions. And for those wanting to take full advantage of everything offered, the Crow Collection’s Wellness Membership is just $125 per year for two adults, providing fresh and frugal ways for members to renew their inner chi at one of the most serene settings in the Dallas Arts District.
“The Crow Collection’s Wellness membership, as part of the Special Interest Group offerings at the Pearl Circle, is a fantastic value offering more than 100 free yoga classes and other activities throughout the year against a truly tranquil backdrop,” said Tracy Bays-Boothe, director of public programs at the Crow Collection. “We want our members to have an all-inclusive Eastern experience and with the expanded Wellness program, they get a variety of added-value benefits that the whole family can enjoy together.”
Beginning March 1, wee-ones (as young as 2 years old) and their favorite grown-ups can get their weekly wind-down at Yogiños: Yoga for Youth™ on Tuesdays from 10 – 10:45 a.m. Calling it an OHMazing™ trilingual yoga camp, founder Elizabeth Reese created the pint-sized program using music, games, stories, and sensory-integrated activities all facilitated in English, Spanish, and Sanskrit. Moms, dads and kiddos will appreciate learning fun yoga moves, recipes for healthy snacks and yoga-inspired works of art, while discovering the history and practice of yoga throughout Asia. For an after-work stress relief session, Yoga in the Galleries is on Thursdays from 5:45 – 6:45 p.m. (note new time). Yoga sessions are $15 for the public, $10 for Crow Collection members, and free for Wellness members. Mats are provided for yoga. All levels of experience are welcome. Space is limited; no reservations required.
Free and open to the public every week is Tai Chi in the Galleries on Saturdays from 9 –10:30 a.m., and Meditation with Kadampa Meditation Center of Texas on Sundays from 2 – 3 p.m. (note new time).
In addition to the Wellness program, the Pearl Circle Membership also provides free/discounted admission to wellness lectures, exclusive Lotus Shop discounts, plus access to other special interest groups including the North American Reciprocal Museum Program, Kids Club, and JADE.
Admission is free to the Crow Collection of Asian Art, which is open from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesdays – Thursdays, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Fridays – Sundays, and closed on Mondays. For more information, please go to crowcollection.org or call 214-979-6430.
