New Tagline "Bridging The Trinity: For The Love Of The City" Introduced
Fireworks will light the sky, illuminating Dallas' newest landmark at the grand opening of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. Throughout the weekend of March 2-4, 2012, the Santiago Calatrava-designed bridge will be a destination for citizens and visitors as they join friends and family in festivities, which include local artists, entertainment, and the best new view in town. For those ready to purchase tickets or become a sponsor, the website is now live: www.mhhbridgecelebration.com. Up-to-date information, schedules, additional events and bridge information will also be available on this website.
Event Chairperson Lynn McBee, The Trinity Trust Foundation and the Trinity Commons Foundation are planning this momentous occasion.
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings will officiate the weekend activities. The honorary event chairs for the opening weekend include the three Dallas mayors who have worked on the Trinity River Corridor Project: the Honorable Ron Kirk, the Honorable Laura Miller and the Honorable Tom Leppert.
McBee said, "The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge changes the landscape of the Dallas skyline and is a marker for the Trinity River Corridor. The opening celebration will be the first time citizens can walk on the bridge, while also enjoying a weekend of festivities and city pride."
The new tagline, "Bridging The Trinity: For The Love Of The City," is included in the celebration. Dr. Gail Thomas, President and CEO of The Trinity Trust, said, "There are more than a dozen bridges across the Trinity River, and our goal is to raise awareness of and increase the affection for the river and the 20-mile swath of nature that runs through our city and under these bridges."
Dr. Thomas added, "We are looking forward to celebrating the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, which has been made possible thanks to the sustained support of our Texas delegation, especially U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson and Congressman Pete Sessions."

About the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge
Designed by internationally known artist, architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava, and named for one of Dallas' renowned civic leaders, the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge is a spectacular keystone of The Trinity project. This world-class bridge - the first Calatrava vehicular bridge built in the United States - is an artfully engineered transportation pathway connecting West Dallas to the heart of downtown Dallas and points beyond. The North Central Texas Council of Governments estimates that when the bridge is open, approximately 42,000 vehicles will travel across it a day.
